If you’re interested in replacing your missing teeth with dentures in Charlotte, North Carolina, then it’s best to schedule an appointment with our dentist, Dr. Scott A. Young. Until your appointment, our dental team is happy to tell you a little more about dentures. The more you know, the better, so we are happy to tell you how complete and partial dentures are created!
Complete dentures are created after your dentist extracts all of your remaining teeth. Then, he will take molds and measurements of your entire mouth, including the jaw. Next, he will send that information to the dental lab where technicians will use that information to create your customized dentures. While you wait, you will be given some false teeth so you can chew, eat, and talk. When your dentures are ready, they will be sent to our office and you will come in to try them on. Your dentist will likely make the necessary adjustments.
Partial dentures are created by making measurements of the mouth and sending them to the lab. There, technicians will make a denture that only has one or more false teeth. They will also make the denture so it can clasp onto the surrounding natural teeth. This will keep the denture anchor in your mouth. When it’s ready and sent to our office, you will come try it on to make sure it’s as expected.
