Dental veneers are wafer-thin shells that can disguise your smile imperfections and give you your dream smile. In fact, they can do so easily and simply. To help you know a little more about the treatment process involved in placing dental veneers in Charlotte, North Carolina, our Scott A. Young, DDS dental team is happy to tell you the steps required. Before we get started, please remember that the treatment might require two appointments.

First, our team will create a customized treatment plan for your smile. To help us do so, tell Dr. Scott A. Young about the goals you would like to achieve. If he knows what you’re looking for, he will be able to use the right type of veneers to give you the results you desire. Then, he will explain the treatment process and will take a few X-rays of your smile to make sure you have enough tooth enamel to secure the veneers.

Second, Dr. Scott A. Young will prepare your teeth. The preparation will involve him shaving the front surfaces of your teeth to make room for the veneers. Once the teeth are the right size and shape, your dentist will make impressions of the teeth and will send those impressions to a dental lab technician. They will use the impressions to create the veneers that will perfectly fit your smile.

Third, your dentist will check and bond the veneers during a second appointment. Once your veneers are ready, Dr. Scott A. Young will check the color, size, and fit of the veneers and will make any necessary adjustments. Then, he will deeply clean the teeth and roughen the surfaces. This will help the veneers adhere to the teeth. Next, Dr. Scott A. Young will apply dental-grade cement to the veneers and will place them over your teeth. To keep them in place, your dentist will use a special ultraviolet light to harden the cement.
