Dental Crown Treatment Steps

Posted .

If you are about to fix a tooth with a dental crown in Charlotte, North Carolina, then you should expect to make two trips to our dental office. Dental crowns are strong, attractive, and reliable dental restorations that can give you the health and appearance that you’ve always wanted in a tooth, so the two dental visits are a small price to pay.

You can expect the following treatment steps when you come into our office:

Step 1: Your dentist will examine the tooth by taking a variety of dental X-rays. The X-rays will help your dentist check the health and condition of the tooth’s roots and the surrounding bones.

Step 2: Dr. Scott A. Young will then numb the tooth and surrounding area. Once you are completely numb, he will remove a portion of the tooth’s enamel to make room for the dental crown.

Step 3: Once your tooth is the right size and shape, your dentist will make an impression of your tooth and will send that impression to the dental lab where your crown will be created. While you wait for your new crown to be created, you will be given a temporary crown.

Step 4: You will come back into our office once your new crown is ready. While you are here, your dentist will remove the temporary crown and will cement the new crown into place.

If you would like to learn more about the process involved in placing a dental crown, please call Scott A. Young, DDS at 704-541-5900 and talk to a member of our helpful team. We look forward to hearing from you!
